Luther F. Renee currently serves as a Commissioner of The Virgin Islands Casino Control Commission (CCC), after being nominated by Governor Albert Bryan, Jr. and then, unanimously confirmed by the 35th Legislature on April 14, 2023.
Prior to this, Mr. Renee held the position of Assistant Commissioner of Agriculture in the DeJongh/Francis Administration. Before serving in this position, Mr. Renee was an Economist at the Bureau Economic Research, as well as a Senator in the 25th Legislature of the Virgin Islands. He has spent over twenty years as an Adjunct Professor of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of the Virgin Islands on the St. Croix Campus. In addition, he served four years as the Director of Admissions and Academic Services at the same campus.
His career in education also includes serving as the Middle School Principal of the Good Hope School in Frederiksted and teaching at both AZ Academy and St. Patrick’s Catholic School.
Mr. Renee has served on a number of Boards and Commissions in the Virgin Islands, including on the Public Services Commission for over ten years. He is also a member of The Agriculture and Food Fair Board, where he serves as the Director of Operations.
Mr. Renee earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustin, Trinidad and his Master of Science degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.
