Executive Director

On March 25, 2024, the Virgin Islands Casino Control Commission (‘the Commission”) appointed St. Croix native Ms. Linda I. Smith to serve as Executive Director.  

Ms. Smith brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role, with a strong background in management and a dedication to achieving the Commission’s goals and objectives.    Ms. Smith will be responsible for providing overall direction and supervision to all Commission operations while ensuring adherence to the Commission’s policies and procedures. She will also work closely with the Chairman/CEO, the Commissioners, and all employees to drive strategic initiatives and uphold the agency’s organizational values.

Ms. Smith has earned a MA in Public Administration and a BA in Business Administration/Business Management from the University of the Virgin Islands.   She brings a wealth of over 30 years of management experience from having previously served in various leadership roles and capacities to include Senior Director of Development for the Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) in the British Virgin Islands, Executive Director of the Virgin Islands Taxicab Commission, Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Affairs of the University of the Virgin Islands, and Sales and Marketing Supervisor at Tropical Shipping and Construction, Ltd.  She is also a renowned grant administrator and has direct experience in this field with several federal agencies such as U.S. Department of Health, U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Hospitals and Human Services, and the U.S.  Election Assistance Commission.  Ms. Smith has numerous national certifications and awards from internationally recognized institutions of higher learning and academies across the Territory and the U.S. mainland including The Center for HBCU Advocacy Inc.   She also is a member of several organizations including the American Society for Public Administration.
